1. Rava ( Coarse sooji rava) – ¾ cup
  2. PureFoodOrganics Gir Cow’s A2 Ghee – 2 tsp.
  3. Onion – 1 small
  4. Dry red chilies – 2 ( Here fresh Bird’s eye chilli is used, this makes it very tasty but hot)
  5. Urad dal and mustard seed – ½ tsp. each
  6. Lemon, coriander leaves, raisins, freshly grated coconut
  7. Water – 1 ½ cups
  8. Sugar – 1 tsp.

How to make


  • In a thick bottom pan put ghee and keep it on regular flame.
  • Add urad dal, mustard seeds and let it splinter.
  • Then add chilies and curry leaved, add finely chopped onion &  sauté for 3-4 minutes till onion turns light brown.
  • In a separate pan, heat water with 1tsp sugar and keep aside.
  • In the sautéed onion add rava and roast for 3-4 minutes on low flame. Add salt to taste and roast for 2 more minutes.
  • Now add hot water and mix well. Keep the flame low. Cover the pan and let it cook for 3-4 minute. Stir well so and lumps are removed.
  • Cover again and close the burner after 1 minute. Let the upama sit in the covered hot pan for 5 minutes.
  • Serve it hot by garnishing it with chopped coriander leaves, grated fresh coconut, raisins and sprinkle lime juice. Enjoy!!
